Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Utility Locator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for locating and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction. This position is critical to protecting infrastructure and maintaining job site safety.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and mark underground utilities including sanitary sewer, and storm sewer lines
  • Use locating equipment such as electromagnetic locators and other tools
  • Read and interpret utility maps, and work orders
  • Mark utilities using paint, flags, and stakes
  • Document and report findings accurately, including sketches and photos
  • Communicate clearly with contractors, crews, and supervisors
  • Maintain and care for company equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures and regulations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer or mobile device skills for reporting
  • Preferred:
  • Previous utility locating or construction experience
  • Knowledge of underground utility systems

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Walk long distances and navigate uneven terrain
  • Lift up to 50 lbs
  • Bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Monday–Friday (with possible overtime, weekends, or on-call rotation)
