Privacy Policy

We provide sewer services to municipalities, utilities, engineers, contractors and other organizations. Our project-service area includes Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Arkansas and Colorado; local coverage also includes Union County, South Dakota. Your privacy rights depend on the laws that apply to you and to our processing, not simply on the states shown on our service map.

This notice does not replace a project agreement, an employment notice or a public agency's records policy. Separate websites and services, including manufacturers, map providers and social platforms you visit through links, have their own practices. The older CIT website and separate marketing portal are not described as having the same tracking configuration merely because they use the CIT name.

Project inquiries and communications. Depending on the form, you may provide your name, organization or organization type, role, email address, telephone number, project location, service interest and message. We also receive information you send by email or provide during a call. Please provide only information you are authorized to share. Do not submit passwords, payment-card details, Social Security numbers, medical records or sensitive infrastructure access credentials through the public forms.

Inquiry context. A submitted inquiry can include its source page, the button or section that opened the form, the selected service, county and representative, the device's broad display category or width, the submission time and your cookie-choice record. We use that context to understand and route your request. When internal analytics is on, we can also associate the inquiry with the recorded visit and its website actions.

Technical and security information. Our website and hosting infrastructure receive network and request information, such as IP address, request time, requested address, referring address, browser information and response or error details. Ordinary server logs may contain this information, including query text in a requested address. We use derived identifiers and counters to limit abusive form submissions and sign-in attempts. Avoid placing personal or confidential information in website URLs.

Internal visit information. When internal analytics is on, our measurement records a random browser identifier and a separate visit identifier, page paths, timestamps, referring website, campaign labels, broad device category and selected interactions, such as opening a form, submitting an inquiry, clicking a telephone or email link, looking up coverage or opening a resource. A click record does not mean a call connected or an email was sent. We do not record the content of telephone calls, email messages or everything you type through this website's analytics.

When internal analytics is on, we estimate your country, state or province, and city from the network address used for the visit. The lookup runs on our server using a local location database. We save the approximate location with the visit, not the IP address used for this lookup. We do not request your device's GPS location or send your IP address to an outside location service. These estimates may identify a network provider or nearby city rather than your actual location.

Administrator records. Staff account records include an email address, protected sign-in credentials and authenticator settings, access permissions, session records and administrative activity logs. These are separate from public visitor analytics. This website does not offer public customer registration or online payment checkout.

Before default internal measurement, we use the existing local network-location database to check whether the request appears to come from the United States. This eligibility check does not save your IP address or contact an outside lookup service. Unknown or non-U.S. locations require an affirmative analytics choice. IP location is approximate and is not a determination of legal residence.

We use inquiry and communication information to respond, identify the requested sewer service and project area, route the inquiry, prepare a project discussion and maintain related business records. We use technical information to deliver pages, prevent abuse, investigate errors and protect access. Cookie-choice records help us apply and document your preferences.

We use our first-party website measurements internally to understand page use, traffic sources, resource use and inquiry activity, and to improve our website and communications. These internal measurements are not an advertising audience for Google, Meta or another company. We do not send our internal visit history or inquiry database to those platforms.

We may also use relevant information to satisfy legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, resolve disputes and protect people, property and our legal rights. The website does not make automated decisions about credit, employment, insurance or other similarly significant matters.

Page-load totals run without optional cookies. Our server counts public page requests by page, hour and broad source. That counter stores no IP address, visitor identifier, full referring address or individual browsing history. Ordinary delivery and security logs remain separate.

Internal analytics measure browsers and visits. For a new browser whose request can be verified as U.S. traffic, internal analytics starts on by default after the server verifies the applicable settings. Existing refusals and Global Privacy Control keep it off. For unknown or non-U.S. locations, it stays off until an affirmative choice. A default-on permission record documents the notice-based setting; it does not mean you clicked to consent. “Got it” only acknowledges the notice.

When measurement is on, a random browser identifier helps estimate unique and returning browsers for up to 90 days, and a separate visit identifier groups activity until more than 30 minutes of inactivity. The server stores a keyed hash of the browser identifier. Different devices, deleted storage and browser restrictions can change counts; they are not a count of identified people. Earlier records without a browser identifier cannot establish returning-browser history.

Visit records may be associated with an inquiry you submit. They are not anonymous and remain within CIT's reporting and supporting hosting/technical services. They are not sent to Google or Meta. You can turn off internal analytics through Privacy choices without losing access to pages, maps or inquiry forms. Refusal clears the browser and visit identifiers. Changing a setting does not by itself delete records already received.

We plan to use Google Analytics to measure website use and Google Ads and Meta's Facebook advertising to promote CIT. As of this policy's effective date, Google Analytics tags, Google Ads conversion or remarketing tags, the Meta Pixel and Meta Conversions API are not enabled on this website. The current analytics choice enables CIT's internal measurement only. Buying an ad on a platform does not, by itself, activate a tracking tag here.

Before we enable these website integrations, we will update this notice and the Cookie Notice with the actual configuration and give you the applicable choices. Existing permission for internal analytics will not automatically become permission for new Google or Meta tracking.

When enabled with the applicable permission, these services can receive online identifiers, browser and device details, IP-related information, page visits, campaign or ad-click information and selected conversion events. Google and Meta may combine information with other information they hold, including account or activity information, under their own policies. Their processing is separate from our internal-only first-party tracking. A cookie stored under our domain can still be used to send data to an outside provider.

We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on the configuration and applicable state law, future advertising disclosures may nevertheless be considered a sale, sharing or targeted advertising. Those website disclosures will remain off unless enabled under the notice and applicable choice, and will be subject to our privacy controls and Global Privacy Control. We are not using customer-list uploads, enhanced conversions or automatic contact matching on this website.

You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, the Google Privacy Policy, Google's advertising controls and Google Analytics opt-out information. Meta explains its practices in the Meta Privacy Policy and provides advertising preferences. Platform controls govern those services; they do not replace choices on this website.

Authorized CIT personnel can use inquiry and related records for the purposes above. Our DigitalOcean hosting and database infrastructure processes website records on our behalf. Authorized technical support providers may need access to operate, secure or troubleshoot the system. Business communication providers process messages when you email or call us.

We use Resend to send website inquiry notifications to authorized CIT staff, with a copy to our authorized website support provider. These messages include the submitted contact and project details and the available inquiry context described above. Resend processes the message content, recipient addresses and delivery records to provide this service. A successful form confirmation means we stored the inquiry; it does not certify that an email was delivered. Our team can access stored inquiries through the private dashboard.

We may disclose relevant records to professional advisers, insurers, public authorities or other parties where reasonably needed for legal obligations, a lawful request, a dispute or the protection of rights and safety. If a business transaction requires transfer of relevant records, applicable law and existing privacy commitments continue to apply.

Google and Meta would receive the categories described above only through a separately enabled integration or your interaction with their own services. Manufacturer PDFs, external map links and social links take you to independent services that receive information about your request. Public coverage lookup uses local map and ZIP data and does not request your device's GPS location. Our page-PDF tool generates the document in your browser. Private administrator map tools may contact outside map services for tiles or city searches; they are not public visitor tracking tools.

Open Privacy choices at any time to turn internal analytics off or explicitly allow it. New eligible U.S. visits use the disclosed default-on setting; unknown/non-U.S. visits remain opt-in. Earlier refusals remain off across policy changes. “Got it” only acknowledges the notice. Saved preferences normally last up to 180 days unless you clear or change them.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a restrictive setting that blocks internal analytics and advertising. No account is required. The older Do Not Track signal has no separate setting.

Turning analytics off stops future measurement in this browser and removes the browser and visit identifiers. It does not delete records already received or apply automatically to other browsers/devices. Refusal applies locally even if a server update fails; a necessary pending-revocation reference allows you to retry the server update after reopening this page. Browser clearing may remove both identifiers and saved refusals.

We consider the purpose of a record, whether a project or inquiry remains active, applicable contract and legal requirements, security needs and any dispute or preservation obligation when deciding how long to retain it. Inquiry and internal analytics records do not currently have an automatic deletion deadline. They remain in our system until reviewed and removed or otherwise handled under applicable obligations. You may request access, correction or deletion rather than waiting for a cookie to expire.

The 180-day cookie and consent period controls the validity of a tracking choice; it does not automatically delete the corresponding server records. Routine website logs rotate daily with 14 previous log files retained, and routine database backups are normally removed after roughly two weeks. Copies retained for an incident, a release rollback or a legal obligation may remain longer. Deleted information may remain in restricted backup copies until those copies expire; a restoration must take applicable deletion requests into account.

Depending on your state, our activities and applicable exemptions, you may have rights to confirm processing, access information, correct inaccuracies, request deletion, receive a portable copy, opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, and opt out of certain profiling. Some laws provide additional rights concerning sensitive information, recipients of disclosures or explanations of significant automated decisions. We do not use website information for those significant automated decisions or collect sensitive information for advertising.

These rights vary. For example, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota and Nebraska have different definitions, business-coverage rules and exceptions, including for some business or employment information. California and other state rights can apply based on residency and statutory coverage even though those states are not our stated project-service area. Nothing in these notices limits a right the law gives you. We will not unlawfully discriminate or retaliate because you exercise a privacy right. Our browser choices are available to all visitors.

Tell us the request and enough information to locate the relevant record, such as the email used for an inquiry and its approximate date. You do not need to create an account or accept analytics. Please do not send sensitive identity documents unless we arrange an appropriate verification method.

We may reasonably verify your identity or an authorized agent's authority before providing, correcting or deleting records. We will use verification information for handling the request and preventing fraud. Browser opt-outs do not require that identity-verification process. We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any permitted extension or reason we cannot fulfill a request. Requests are generally free, subject to exceptions allowed by law.

If we decline your request, you may appeal through the same contact methods with the subject or description Privacy appeal. Include the original request and why you believe the decision should change. We will provide the applicable appeal response and reasons, and, where required, information about contacting your state attorney general. You may also contact your state attorney general directly. Relevant resources include the Iowa Attorney General, Colorado Attorney General, Minnesota privacy information and Nebraska Attorney General.

We use protections such as HTTPS, restricted administrator access and separate database permissions. No website or transmission method can guarantee complete security. Contact us if you believe information has been exposed or an account misused.

This website is intended for organizational customers and adult business contacts, not children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. We do not knowingly sell or share minors' information for targeted advertising.

CIT is based in the United States. This notice is written for our US website and operations. Access from another country does not change our stated practices or waive protections that applicable law provides.

We will update the effective date when this policy changes. For a material change requiring notice or a new choice, we will provide that notice or request that choice before the affected processing. A policy update alone does not authorize using information contrary to the commitments under which it was collected.
